WHITE MARSH, MD — The 20th annual tree lighting on The Avenue at White Marsh dazzled hundreds Friday night. The tree lighting coincided with the opening this week of the ice rink across from the AMC Theatre.

WMAR anchor Jamie Costello emceed the tree lighting, announcing the arrival of Santa shortly before 7 p.m. as the crowd counted down to the flipping of the switch. When the lights came on, children erupted into cheers and lined up to greet Mr. and Mrs. Claus for photos.

Swing band King Teddy provided live music for the event, which packed the shopping venue with families eagerly awaiting a dose of festive cheer.
