Vandalism Causes Sewer Pipe Overflow Near White Marsh Run

Damage to an 8-inch sewer went undetected for two weeks.

An act of vandalism caused a sanitary sewer overflow that went undetected for two weeks, displacing thousands of gallons of water, according to a release from the Baltimore County Department of Public Works

Crews contained the overflow near the tributary to White Marsh Run late Thursday night. White Marsh Run flows into Bird River.

“Due to the overflow occurring in a wooded area (between Gunpowder Crossing Lane and Pulaski Highway), the overflow went undetected for two weeks, with an estimated, average daily flow of 1200 gallons, totaling 16,800 gallons,” the release states.
