WHITE MARSH, MD — The White Marsh Mall will reopen this weekend. It has been closed since March, after Gov. Larry Hogan ordered malls across Maryland to close to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.

Malls and casinos will be allowed to reopen Friday, June 19. However, White Marsh Mall will not reopen until Saturday, June 20.

"We are excited to announce that we will reopen on Saturday, June 20," mall officials reported. "We look forward to welcoming our stores and our shoppers back!"

More details are forthcoming, but officials said: "Health and safety are paramount."

Brookfield Properties, which manages White Marsh Mall and more than 170 retail destinations, has already reopened some properties around the country. Lessons learned from other malls center around "signage and sanitizers," a corporate spokesperson told the Baltimore Business Journal. While the company also oversees the Mall in Columbia, The Gallery at Harborplace, Mondawmin Mall and Towson Town Center, each shopping center, including White Marsh, will reportedly have its own plan for reopening, with measures for social distancing.
