Cecil College basketball teams to compete at Region XX tournament

NORTH EAST, Md. – Cecil College’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will be competing in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Region XX Tournament this week at Howard Community College. This is the first step to advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament.

The women’s team is seeded No. 7 and will hit the hardwood on Thursday, March 5, at 5:30 p.m. against Chesapeake Community College. A victory will advance the Seahawks to the semifinals on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The men’s program is looking for a return trip to the national tournament as the Seahawks are seeded No. 3. They will take on Garrett Community College on Friday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. A victory will advance the Seahawks to the semifinal round on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

The Region XX championship game for the women is Sunday, March 8, at noon while the men’s title game will be at 4 p.m.
