Elkton, MD: The Cecil County Department of Community Services (DCS) announced Cecil Cares, a countywide day of service, will take place on October 2, 2021. Cecil Cares offers citizens the opportunity to connect and volunteer with local organizations (nonprofits, government agencies, and faith and service-based organizations) on a variety of service projects throughout the County.

DCS invites eligible organizations to coordinate a Cecil Cares project. The Cecil Cares project application is available at http://www.volunteercecil.org/ or on the Cecil County Department of Community Services’ website at https://www.ccgov.org/government/community-services/volunteer-opportunities.

A virtual information session will be hosted for organizations coordinating projects for the first time.

Cecil Cares projects can either be hands-on or virtual events. Last year, 85 volunteers were engaged in the following service projects coordinated by partner organizations:

 

Projects will be posted and promoted on www.volunteercecil.org (under the Cecil Cares 2021 banner) by August 27, 2021; at that time, citizens will be able to visit the website to locate a project and sign up to volunteer. Projects will adhere to all COVID safety protocols if restrictions are still in place.

 

Cecil Cares Day of Service is coordinated by the Cecil County Department of Community Services, Volunteer Cecil, and the Cecil Cares Planning Team with support from Upper Shore Regional Council.
