Elkton, MD- Since April 21, 2021, there have been 117 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cecil County and 3 COVID-19-related deaths in Cecil County. Additionally, there have been 192 cases released from isolation.

Since March, 2020, as reported by the Cecil County Health Department, there have been 6,022 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cecil County, and 5,505 of those confirmed cases have been released from isolation. There have been 131 COVID-19-related deaths in Cecil County. Cecil County’s seven-day positivity rate is 5.4%.

Beginning in May, the Health Department will be offering free at-home COVID-19 test kits for resident’s use. Residents may call 410-996-1005 during business hours to request a kit.

The Cecil County Health Department will hold free drive-thru COVID-19 testing events for the public on:

  • Wednesday May 5, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., 401 Bow Street, Elkton, MD.
  • Wednesday May 12, from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m., 401 Bow Street, Elkton MD.

Appointments are required. Please call 410-996-1005 or go to the online scheduler to make an appointment:

Please bring ID. You do not need a doctor’s note or symptoms to get tested.

COVID-19 Vaccine

COVID-19 vaccination appointments are available now! Anyone 16 years of age or older who has yet to receive their first COVID-19 vaccine may register for an upcoming vaccination clinic at  https://cecilcountyhealth.org/coronavirus/vaccination/.  New clinics are added each week. If you need assistance with registering for an appointment, call 410-996-1005.

Cecil County’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution as of 4/28/2021:

  • 1st dose = 31,502 (30.62% of population)
  • 2nd dose = 21,779 (21.17% of population)
  • Single dose = 1,778 (1.7% of population)

Outdoor Mask Mandate and Outdoor Dinning: Today, Governor Hogan announced that masks and face coverings are no longer required outdoors in the State of Maryland. Face coverings are still required for all Marylanders at all large ticketed venues as well as indoors at all public and private businesses and when using public transportation.  Additionally, effective May 1, standing service may resume outdoors at bars and restaurants and all restrictions related to outdoor dining capacity and distancing will be lifted. Seated service and physical distancing requirements will remain in place indoors at bars and restaurants. More information can be found in the link below:

    • Food Referrals:  due to the coronavirus, public access to the building is restricted; however you may still receive a referral for food by calling Nicole at 443-986-3548, from 8:am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.  Emergency food referrals will be available for pick up at the Help Center from 9:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday.

Cecil County Government
Cecil County Government (CCG) remains committed to protecting the health and welfare of its employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, while maintaining essential, core services to the constituents of Cecil County. To safely and incrementally move County operations forward, CCG will reopen County work sites to the public, by appointment only, for essential County business. Therefore, the following protocol is effective beginning June 8, 2020, until further notice:

  • Public access to County work sites is limited to appointment only, with as much business as possible being conducted electronically or by telephone.

The vestibule at the Administration Building remains open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, to allow for drop-off and pick-ups for Permits, Finance, Housing, Purchasing, Land Use, and Public Works. Please make sure your documents are clearly marked with name/organization and contact information.

  • All Cecil County Solid Waste Management Division facilities are open for normal operations. This includes the Central Landfill, Woodlawn, and Stemmers Run Transfer Stations.

In addition, citizens are reminded that they can access the www.ccgov.org website and follow us on social media to obtain further information and direction on items of interest. 

In early March 2020, the Cecil County COVID-19 Joint Information Center (JIC) was formed as a means to provide consolidated and thorough information to the citizens of Cecil County. The JIC is comprised of more than 30 public information officials and communication leads for agencies throughout the county.
