Elkton, MD- Since June 9, 2021, there have been 7 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cecil County and 1 COVID-19-related death in Cecil County. Additionally, there have been 10 cases released from isolation.

Since March, 2020, as reported by the Cecil County Health Department, there have been 6,350 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cecil County, and 5,923 of those confirmed cases have been released from isolation. There have been 150 COVID-19-related deaths in Cecil County. Cecil County’s seven-day positivity rate is 0.84%.

The Health Department is encouraging everyone in Cecil County eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine to obtain one as soon as possible. These vaccines are proven, safe, and effective. This tool is helping us return to normal and saving lives. If you are still seeking a vaccine or have questions, we are here to help. Testing

At-home COVID-19 saliva test kits are available for pick-up at the Health Department Monday- Friday, from 8 AM- 5PM. The kits are effective and easy to use. Please call 410-996-1005 during business hours or fill out an online request form to request a kit.

Governor Hogan

Governor Hogan Announces End of COVID-19 State of Emergency: All emergency mandates and restrictions will be terminated as of July 1. There will no longer be any statewide mask order in effect for any settings, including schools, camps, and childcare facilities.

Thursday, July 1 will mark the beginning of a 45-day grace period, where certain regulations will continue to be relaxed to complete the administrative transition out of the pandemic. Cecil County Government

Executive Hornberger Announces Full Reopening of County Offices: Since last year, the Administration Building has been in a modified opening status requiring constituents to make an appointment for most services. Beginning June 16, no appointment will be required to visit the Administration Building, however, scheduling an appointment with the appropriate department is recommended to ensure expedient service. The Administration Building is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM- 4:30 PM.

Declaration of Emergency to End July 1: Although the County has continued to reopen to the fullest extent allowed by state and federal guidelines, Cecil has been under a declaration of emergency since March 2020, when it was enacted by the previous administration. This declaration activated the County’s Emergency Operations Plan and allowed for the facilitation and deployment of resources. Beginning on July 1, the County Executive will end Cecil’s local declaration of emergency in concurrence with the State of Maryland.
