Funeral Procession To Cause Delays On US 40: Cecil Sheriff

There will be brief closures on Route 40 Saturday for the procession honoring Brian Williams of the Community Fire Company of Perryville.

PERRYVILLE, MD - There will be delays on US 40 Saturday in Cecil County due to a memorial service at the Community Fire Company of Perryville.

Drivers should expect delays in the area of Route 40/Pulaski Highway between the Hatem Bridge and Belvedere Road.

According to the Cecil County Sheriff's Office, there will be brief road closures from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, for the funeral procession to memorialize Brian Williams.

Williams, 51, the tow truck driver killed on Interstate 95 near Perryville on Sunday, was a longtime member of the Perryville fire company. Williams was an EMS captain, fire lieutenant, captain, chief engineer and board member since joining the fire company in 1986. He also worked for Collette's Towing for 20 years and retired from a career with the Baltimore County Fire Department in 2016.


A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, July 15, at the Community Fire Company of Perryville, 920 Principio Furnace Road.

Following the funeral service, there will be a procession from the fire station to Coudon Boulevard to MD 7 to US 40, which will turn left and continue to Aiken Avenue then Broad Street, then back to the firehouse. In front of the station, the fire company will conduct a last call in honor of Williams.
