Local Community Theater Holding Auditions

On September 1, the Lewis Lane Players are holding auditions for their fall production of the comedy "Bull in a China Shop"

The Lewis Lane Players, the Havre de Grace Drama Guild’s adult community theater group, have been bringing quality theater to Havre de Grace since 2011. They started out with a series of dinner theater murder mysteries and have evolved into producing theater classics and Broadway/off-Broadway comedies and dramas. Recent performances have included Steel Magnolias, Blithe Spirit, Alarms & Excursions, It’s a Wonderful Life! A Live Radio Play, and Trifles. Their 2015-16 season will include an encore performance of It’s a Wonderful Life! A Live Radio Play to celebrate the holiday season, and the Pulitzer Prize winning drama Doubt in the spring.

This fall they are putting on the comedy Bull in a China Shop. A houseful of sweet little old ladies try to devise a plan to get the attention of the handsome Detective Dennis O’Finn from homicide who lives across the street. What better way to attract a homicide detective than a nice, polite little murder over a cup of tea? The tale first appeared as a short story in Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, and was later featured on an episode of “Alfred Hitchcock Presents.” Now a stage play, it has seen hundreds of performances around the country.

On Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 6:30pm, the Lewis Lane Players are holding auditions for this raucous comedy that has enchanted audiences everywhere. The auditions will be held at the Havre de Grace Activity Center, 351 Lewis Lane, Havre de Grace. Auditions are open to actors of all (or no) experience. There are roles in this play to accommodate a variety of skill sets and experience levels. Actors will be asked to read pages from the script, alone or in groups. Advanced registration is not required, although an RSVP to hdgdrama@yahoo.com expressing your intention to audition would be appreciated. Head shots and resumes will be accepted, but are not required.

These are unpaid, community theater roles. Registration with the Lewis Lane Players is required for anyone who is offered and accepts a role. Registration is $15 plus a $10 administrative fee ($15 for non-Harford County residents). This registration covers the entire program year, so if you are offered a role in either of the other two Lewis Lane Players productions this year (It’s a Wonderful Life or Doubt), no additional registration is required. Actors who are offered roles also must pay for their script ($8.95), after which the script is yours to keep. See the audition web page for complete details.
