Medline Building 1.1 Million-Square-Foot Facility Near Perryville

A medical supply manufacturer and distributor is moving its manufacturing and distribution facility from Harford to Cecil County.

PERRYVILLE, MD — A medical supply company is looking to expand, and it has set its sights on Perryville, according to state officials. Medline announced its plans Thursday to leave Havre de Grace and triple its footprint in Maryland through the construction of a new distribution center in Principio Business park.

The distribution center will be 1.1 million square feet and will replace the Havre de Grace facility, according to a statement from the Maryland governor's office.

“Medline’s move to nearly triple its operations in Maryland and add 200 new jobs shows that our work to strengthen our state’s economy is delivering real results,” Gov. Larry Hogan said in a statement.

Medline manufactures and distributes medical supplies for the health care industry. It is headquartered in Illinios and has a global presence. One recent creation was fentanyl-resistant gloves for first responders who are on the front lines handling opioid overdose calls.

“A growing demand for Medline’s products and clinical solutions is driving their significant growth here in Maryland, and we are proud to support this global company’s expansion,” Maryland Commerce Secretary Mike Gill said in a statement. “Companies all over our state are continuing to grow and add jobs, and we are pleased to work with our local partners to ensure that these companies know how much they are valued here in Maryland.”

The construction project in Cecil County for Medline is expected to create more than 200 jobs over the next six years. Medline's current workforce totals about 100, according to state officials.

“We are excited to welcome Medline to Cecil County's Principio Business Park,” Cecil County Executive Alan McCarthy said in a statement. “We worked very closely with the business during their decision-making process and look forward to continuing to be a great partner to ensure their success in Cecil County. The recent project announcements by Amazon, Lidl, TRUAire, and now Medline are further evidence that Cecil County has one of the best industrial markets on the East Coast and will bring excellent employment opportunities to our area.”
