Police Unity Tour Coming Through Cecil County

BREAKING: Drivers should expect delays and take alternate routes as bicyclists and police vehicles make their way through Cecil County.

CECIL COUNTY, MD — There will be delays as officers on bicycle make their way from Cecil County Friday afternoon toward Harford County, according to the Cecil County Sheriff's Office. The cyclists are participating in the 2019 Police Unity Tour, which raises awareness for law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.

Hundreds of bicyclists will be surrounded by support vehicles in the police convoy.

Drivers should anticipate delays on MD 23 north/Augustine Herman Highway and US 40/Pulaski Highway in Cecil County, according to the sheriff's office.

Delays are likely from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 10, officials said.

The Police Unity Tour takes cyclists from all parts of the country to Washington, D.C., where they will converge at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial on Sunday, May 12, and hold a vigil on Monday, May 13. Having hundreds of police bicycling on roads leading to the memorial raises awareness of those who have died in the line of duty.

The unity tour coincides with National Police Week, which honors those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
