Snow Emergency Plan Activated In Cecil County
Drivers, be advised: A snow emergency plan in Cecil County is in effect.

CECIL COUNTY, MD — Cecil County is under a snow emergency plan as of 7 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11. In a snow emergency, state police may immediately authorize the towing of vehicles parked on snow emergency routes as well as those left in roads or on shoulders.
Also under a snow emergency plan, vehicles must be equipped with snow tires (all-weather tires are fine), chains or all-season radials to be allowed to drive on Maryland highways.
Drivers should slow down if they must travel.

There was 1 inch of snow measured in Elkton as of 5 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, according to unofficial data submitted to the National Weather Service.

A winter weather advisory in effect until noon Monday in Cecil County calls for 1 to 3 inches of snow, with locally higher amounts possible in some areas. A light glaze of ice is also possible.
This is the first round of wintry weather expected to hit the area, according to the National Weather Service.
"A lull in the precipitation may occur for much of the day [Monday] before increasing again this evening and overnight," according to the winter weather advisory.
The wintry mix Monday night is expected to change to all rain by Tuesday afternoon. Heavy rain may lead to localized flooding, according to the National Weather Service.
Cecil County Public Schools canceled classes on Monday, as did Cecil College. Government offices are on liberal leave, and some transit options have changed.
