'Stay Home, Watch Wheel Of Fortune': Cecil Sheriff After Storm

After severe storms took a toll on roads in Cecil County, officials are asking residents to stay home if possible.

CECIL COUNTY, MD — Officials in Cecil County are encouraging people not to drive if they can help it Wednesday night. The message came after severe thunderstorms knocked out power to more than 3,300 Delmarva customers in Cecil County.

Northeastern Maryland is on alert as the remnants of Tropical Cyclone Barry pass through the region Wednesday night.

Cecil County is under a flash flood watch until 1 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, with the potential for torrential downpours that could dump 2 to 4 inches of rain in short order.

After a severe thunderstorm storm blew through Wednesday before 8 p.m., the Cecil County Sheriff's Office asked people to hold off on their travels if possible.

"Road conditions are awful. Stay home, watch Wheel of Fortune," officials said in a statement at 7:45 p.m. "Just don't make more work for us."
