BCPS Teachers Offered Learning Opportunity Focused on Discovery Education 'Techbooks'
The unique opportunity aims for approximately 400 Baltimore County Public Schools elementary, middle, and high school educators.

Baltimore County Public Schools and Discovery Education are partnering to provide a unique professional learning opportunity for approximately 400 BCPS elementary, middle, and high school educators. Participants will learn new ways to integrate digital math, social studies, and science textbooks – or “Techbooks” – effectively into classroom instruction to customize and personalize learning. BCPS has embarked on a multi-year transformation known as S.T.A.T. to provide effective digital learning environments that prepare students to graduate globally competitive.
The event will feature a keynote from Dr. Hakeem Oluseyi, astrophysicist and star of the Science Channel’s Outrageous Acts of Science, along with interactive sessions on using Discovery Education’s Math, Science and Social Studies Techbooks to improve student engagement and boost academic achievement.

The event is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Pikesville High School, located at 7621 Labyrinth Rd. in Baltimore.
Since 2014, BCPS and Discovery Education have partnered to bring digital resources to classrooms to empower teachers, enhance curriculum, and inspire students. This school year, educators systemwide will begin integrating Discovery Education’s Techbook series into classroom instruction.
