Elizabeth Rose 'Bette' Lucas, 88; Former Northwest Hospital Charge Nurse

Elizabeth Rose “Bette” Lucas, 88 years old of Hanover, Penn., formerly of Pikesville and Owings Mills, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at the Hanover Hospital.
Born Nov. 23, 1926 in New Haven, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Vincent Bianchi and Carmella Celone Bianchi.
She was the beloved wife of 60 years to the late John Thomas Lucas Sr.

She graduated from St. Vincent Nursing School in Bridgeport, Conn. She came to Baltimore to continue her nurses training at Seton Institute to become a Registered Nurse. Bette worked as a charge nurse in the ER of Northwest Hospital, formerly Baltimore County General, for over 30 years. She was an active member in her church, St. Charles of Pikesville. Mom loved children. She was a volunteer at Johns Hopkins cancer unit helping children.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: John T. Lucas Jr. of Ellicott City, Bonny Lee and Bob Kellner of Hampstead, David M. and Cindy Lucas of Eldersburg, Mary C. Lucas’Derry and Ron Derry of Hanover, Scott and Christy Lucas of New Oxford, 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and her siblings: Carl Bianchi of Deltona, Fla., and Erma Burns of New Haven, Conn.

She was predeceased by her daughter Carol Ann Lucas and her daughter-in-law Dolores Lucas.
Friends may call on Monday, July 6, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Rd. Owings Mills, MD 21117. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, 101 Church Lane, Pikesville, MD 21208.
Interment in Druid Ridge Cemetery.
