NextAct Cinema at The Pikes Opens in Pikesville
Boutique theater features luxury seating, wine bar, gourmet dining and immersive sound technology
PIKESVILLE, Md. (Mar. 12, 2019) – Motion pictures are back in Pikesville! The historic Pikes Theatre has been reincarnated with new and updated technology, plus additional amenities for an “intimate luxury movie going experience.”
NextAct Cinema at The Pikes (921 Reisterstown Rd. – 21208) now operates as an independent boutique theater where guests can wine and dine in comfortable leather reclining chairs while watching their favorite flicks.
The 3,000-square-foot facility (which initially operated from 1938 to 1984, and later reopened from 2013 to 2016) underwent extensive renovations (designed by Levin/Brown Architects and executed by American Contracting) to yield a modern, upscale look.

Enhancements include new in-theater seating and screens, new (and relocated) bathrooms, a new concession area with digital menu screens, and the addition of a lobby bar decorated with a full glass mirror and movie-themed canvas posters.
With stadium seating, the two theater rooms are each limited to 43 seats for a more personal experience. NextAct Cinema boasts 100 percent crystal clear digital audio and projection, high-frame rate technologies, premium large format and immersive cinema, and various accessibility technologies. Guests can fully engage in the surround sound experience and feel as if they are in the center of all of the action.

The seats, as well as accompanying plush blankets, can be reserved online or on-site at guest services. No need to get out of those comfy chairs to stock up on refreshments. While seated, guests can order red/white wine, domestic/imported beer or a soft drink; artisanal popcorn; candy, and/or a gourmet meal prepared by the adjacent Pikes Cinema Bar and Grill, and have it all delivered by the theater’s wait staff.
Designed for a quick turnaround, the in-theater menu includes meat, chicken and seafood sliders with fries and slaw; personal pizzas; quesadillas; soups; salads and a salmon entrée, as well as smaller-sized items, including chicken tenders, for children.
Seating is reserved and guests ordering a meal should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their movie showing. Concession items can be ordered throughout the movie.
Locally owned and operated, NextAct Cinema will offer a wide range of diverse movie options from first runs to foreign language dramas, as well as themed movie events for the community. Future plans call for afternoon showings of children’s movies, morning showings for the over 50 crowd and special movie nights for the whole family to enjoy.
