NKF-MD Reveals Menu for Sante: A Culinary Odyssey, Nov. 20
Premier cuisine event to feature dishes from local chefs; proceeds benefit kidney research, NKF-MD's patient emergency assistance program

LUTHERVILLE, Md. – To whet your appetite, the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland is offering a menu preview of its 5th annual Santé: A Culinary Odyssey celebration, taking place Thursday, Nov. 20, from 6 to 10 p.m., at the M&T Bank Stadium, North Club Level Lounge in downtown Baltimore.
As the area’s premier cuisine event, Santé will feature signature dishes from over 45 top local chefs. Restaurants and caterers will compete for awards voted on by celebrity judges. They also will vie to be named the People’s Choice winner. To date, the evening’s bill of fare includes the following:

Adding to the fun will be a signature drink, interactive food demonstrations, live entertainment and a silent auction featuring sports memorabilia, dining, entertainment, local art, spa, health and fitness, and vacation packages.
Guests also can raise their paddles to directly support the local kidney community by contributing to the evening’s Fund-The-Mission campaign.
The live auction will offer the chance to win one-of-a-kind experiences in the live auction, including a Meet & Greet with The NFL Today Team where two people can meet host, James Brown, and analysts, Boomer Esiason, Bill Cowher, Tony Gonzalez and Bart Scott, and watch the pre-game and half-time broadcasts and all the day’s games from the CBS Broadcast Center in New York.
Father and daughter duo, Jim and Lindsey Duquette will serve as mission speakers. Jim is a former Baltimore Orioles executive and current baseball analyst who donated a kidney to Lindsey, in 2012, when she was 10 years old. The pair is doing well and will briefly share their experience at Santé in order to put local faces to kidney disease.
Event honorees are Lawrence J. Appel, M.D., M.P.H. (C. David Molina Professor of Medicine and Director of the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical Research, at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions) and Jonathan S. Bromberg, M.D., Ph.D. (Professor of Surgery and Microbiology and Immunology and Chief of the Division of Transplantation at the University of Maryland School of Medicine).
Sponsorship chair is Stuart Bowers (president, DST Brokerage Solutions) and restaurant committee chair is Ben Simpkins CEC CCA WCC (executive chef at Richardson Farms, who was on dialysis following a car accident at age 16 before receiving one of his mother’s kidneys in a transplant the following year).
Proceeds from Santé will fund vital research at Johns Hopkins and the University of Maryland, and directly support NKF-MD’s patient emergency assistance program, which provides essentials such as food, housing costs, utilities, medication and transportation to dialysis.
Admission is $125 per person for as-available lounge seating, $250 per person for a reserved seat and $2,500 for a reserved table for 10. Sponsorships are also available.
