Pikesville Owings Mills Chamber Announces New President

Beth Rheingold brings 16 years non-profit experience

PIKESVILLE, Md. –The Pikesville Owings Mills Regional Chamber of Commerce (POM) has appointed Beth Rheingold, Ph.D. as its new president, effective July 1.

Holli Friedland, POM vice chair and search committee chair noted, “We were impressed not only with her resume, but also by her engaging personality and passion for her work – qualities that we expect will help the Chamber grow and better achieve its mission.”

Working closely with the board of directors, Rheingold will be responsible for all aspects of Chamber operations including member recruitment and retention, event planning and engagement with community and government leaders.

“This is a very exciting time to be part of the Chamber, whose commitment to the economic growth and well-being of our community strongly appeals to me as an educator, community organizer and daughter of a small-business owner,” Rheingold said.

“The success of a community depends in large part upon effective communication and relationship-building among its constituents. To that end POM is moving our area forward with creative networking opportunities, engaging community events like The Taste and Pikesville 5K), and advocating for businesses,” she added. “I am honored to serve our community in this capacity as we work to advance the Chamber's mission.

Bringing 16 years of nonprofit experience, Rheingold most recently served as director of school and community engagement for CHAI (Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc.) in Pikesville. She is credited by local community and political leaders with making significant strides in strengthening the relationships between several schools, community groups, and City and County agencies.

“Her accomplishments in working with our local schools and community leaders has prepared her well to advance the mission of the Chamber,” said POM Chair Marcy Gorman. “We feel very fortunate to have her as our next president and are excited about her leadership abilities.”

Rheingold previously held teaching and academic administrative positions at Johns Hopkins' Center for Talented Youth (Dickinson College) and SUNY-Buffalo, where she earned her Ph.D. in English. She also taught at Garrison Forest School, McDonogh School and Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University).

She resides in Westminster with her husband, Hugh, and their children, Jacob and Bella. Pikesville and Owings Mills are home base for the whole family, which commutes daily for school, work and play.
