$50K Potomac Winner Learns His Lucky Lottery Number
A Potomac man has claimed a $50,000 prize in the Platinum Play scratch-off game, says the Maryland Lottery.

POTOMAC, MD — A Potomac man who had no idea what his lucky numbers were now has his answer after buying a $50,000 winning Maryland Lottery scratch-off, he tells lottery officials. The 26-year-old didn't know what instant ticket he was going to buy when he stopped by the Georgia Avenue retailer in Silver Spring.
Then, the lucky player saw the ticket number “001” on a $1,000,000 Platinum Play scratch-off and his choice was clear. The Potomac man told Lottery officials that he thought to himself, “That is the first ticket, maybe this could be the lucky one.”
He bought one of the game’s $20 scratch-offs, took it to his car and started to scratch off the instant ticket. He matched one number, then two and, before he knew it, he had matched four numbers and a lucky star for a total win of $50,000, according to the lottery news release.
