All Delegate & County Exec Candidates Will Be at Rockville Forum

Moderated Panel with All Candidates for Delegate in Districts 15, 16, 17 & 39 and Montgomery County Executive on June 3rd

Rockville's Temple Beth Ami is holding a forum for candidates of both political parties on June 3, 2018. Unlike most other forums taking place ahead of the Maryland primaries on June 26, this event includes all candidates for State Delegate in the race to represent Maryland Districts 15, 16, 17 and 39, and for County Executive. All candidates of both parties have confirmed their participation. In conjunction with the forums, there will be on-site voter registration and information about early voting and voting by mail.

The forum will be held at Temple Beth Ami, 14330 Travilah Road in Rockville. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and candidates for delegate seats will answer questions beginning at 10:00 a.m. Volunteers will be available to help attendees determine in which district they vote, and guide them to the room holding the forum for that district. Attendees are asked to register in advance and provide home addresses so the organizers will be able to provide district information and forum location in advance. At 11:45 a.m., the moderated panel for candidates for County Executive will begin in the Sanctuary.

Temple Beth Ami is hosting this event in partnership with Adat Shalom Congregation; Black Ministers Conference of Montgomery County; Community Ministries of Rockville; Congregation B’nai Tzedek; Congregation Har Shalom; Congregation Kol Shalom; Guru Gobind Singh Foundation; Islamic Center of Maryland; Jewish Community Relations Council; and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Each year, Temple Beth Ami’s “Community of Action” Committee chooses a cause that engages members and has an immediate impact on a social issue. Civic Engagement is this year’s topic, determined in part by Listening Sessions conducted within the congregation. Community of Action member Debbie Jacobs explains, “This forum offers the opportunity to reach out to other faith groups and organizations in Montgomery County; to learn together, share ideas, and reveal the areas where our concerns align.” The Critical Issues Forum, a public policy advocacy group comprising members from Temple Beth Ami, Kol Shalom, and Adat Shalom are also working on the forum.

The organizers encourage those who register to submit questions for consideration for either the Delegate or County Executive Candidate Forum.
