Cabin John Shake Shack Opens Thursday: How It's Helping Locals

Through its Stand For Something Good initiative, the store will donate all proceeds from the soft opening to a children's advocacy center.

POTOMAC, MD – Prepare for a party in Potomac as Shake Shack opens the doors of its first shack on Thursday at 11 a.m.

The new restaurant is located on a prominent corner in the retail center in Cabin John Village. And for those who don't know, Shake Shack is a modern-day “roadside” burger stand known for its 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches and griddled flat-top dogs, fresh-made frozen custard, crispy crinkle cut fries and more.

In additions to the Shack classics, The Cabin John Shack will be will be spinning up a unique selection of frozen custard concretes in collaboration with local purveyors:

● Pie Oh My: Vanilla custard with a slice of Sweetly Anchored seasonal pie

● Cookie Butter Blender: Vanilla Custard, cookie butter, chocolate toffee, topped with chocolate sprinkles

● Shack Attack: Chocolate custard, fudge sauce, chocolate truffle cookie dough, Mast Brothers Shake Shack dark chocolate chunks, topped with chocolate sprinkles

Guests can wash their burgers down with local brewsfrom Flying Dog Brewery, DC Brau and 3 Stars Brewing Company plus Shake Shack’s exclusive Brooklyn Brewery ShackMeister Ale. Wine lovers can enjoy a glass of Shack Red and Shack White wine from the Gotham Project.

As part of Shake Shack’s mission to Stand For Something Good, The Cabin John will donate all proceeds from soft opening, as well 5% of sales from the Pie Oh My concrete throughout the life of the shack, to The Tree House Children's Advocacy Center, an organization that is dedicated to reducing trauma and promoting healing for child victims of abuse.

The 3,000-square foot Shack features an outdoor patio and plenty of seating for guests. In keeping with Shake Shack’s commitment to green architecture and eco-friendly construction, the Cabin John Shack’s tabletops are made by CounterEvolution using reclaimed bowling alley lanes; chairs were designed by Uhuru using sustainable materials; and booths will be crafted by Staach using lumber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

Sweet Treats! The first 100 people in line when doors open at 11 a.m. will receive the Pie Oh My concrete on the house.
