Delegate Ariana Kelly Arrested for Indecent Exposure, Trespassing

The Bethesda legislator reportedly exposed her breasts and pounded on the door of her ex-husband's home last month, court documents say.

A Bethesda member of the Maryland House of Delegates was arrested for allegedly exposing her breasts during a confrontation with her ex-husband and his fiancée, according to reports.

Delegate Ariana M. Kelly, 38, was charged June 27 with trespassing and indecent exposure, according to Maryland online court records.

Kelly had reportedly dropped her children at her ex-husband’s home in the 5300 block of Alta Vista Road in Bethesda when an argument ensued. The couple divorced in November.

According to court documents, she was upset to find her ex-husband’s fiancée at the home, and she wouldn’t leave until she spoke to her former husband. Barak Sanford recorded his former wife on a cell phone when Kelly exposed her breasts, WTOP reports.

The Washington Post quotes charging documents that allege Kelly rang the doorbell numerous times, pounded on Sanford’s door, and then exposed her breasts in the direction of his cell phone.

Police reportedly warned Kelly she could be arrested if she didn’t leave. According to the court document, Kelly said: “Arrest me then,” and held out her wrists to the officer, the Post says.

Kelly’s attorney, Luiz Simmons, told WTOP the legislator will “aggressively dispute” the charges against her. Her trial is set for Aug. 13.

Kelly represents District 16, Montgomery County, including parts of Potomac and Bethesda. She was first elected to the legislature in 2010.
