First Hasidic Woman Judge To Speak At Women's Circle Event
Jewish women in the Potomac area will gather on Jan. 13 at the Rollins Congressional Club in Rockville to celebrate Jewish womanhood.
POTOMAC, MD - From Chabad of Potomac: Jewish women from across the Potomac area will join together for a day of spiritual indulgence in celebration of Jewish womanhood at Spa for the Soul on Sunday, January 13 at the Rollins Congressional Club, 1621 Martha Terrace, Rockville, MD.
Organized by Chabad of Potomac’s Women’s Circle, the gathering will include Judaica artmaking and a lineup of popular speakers tackling topics relating to Jewish women in the 21st century.
The keynote speaker will be Judge Rachel Freier who will share her trailblazing story of how she became the first hasidic woman judge in American history.
Judge Freier is also the only hasidic female judge in the world, the first hasidic woman to hold public office in the United States, and the founder of an all-female voluntary ambulance service assisting women in the Borough Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, of which is the subject of a PBS documentary “93Queen” released in July of 2018.

Elected as a New York City Civil Court Judge in 2016, Freier currently serves as a Criminal Court Judge in New York City’s Kings County 5th Judicial District.
“Spa for the Soul is about Jewish women from Potomac coming together to reaffirm the central role of Jewish women,” said Sara Bluming, co-director of Chabad of Potomac together with her husband, Rabbi Mendel Bluming. "Judge Freier is a pioneer and role model for every Jewish woman. She exemplifies balancing one’s unwavering commitment to Judaism while simultaneously reaching new heights and upholding one's professional duties."
