Minimizing the Risks of Falling

Physical therapist Lynn Koenig to speak at a free, open-to-all Lunch & Learn, hosted by Potomac Community Village, Tuesday, Sept. 19, 12:30

September is National Falls Prevention Month, and in recognition, Potomac Community Village is presenting a free, and open to all, Lunch & Learn program, on Tuesday, September 19, at 12:30, with physical therapist Lynn Koenig. The program is at the Potomac Community Center, 11315 Falls Road, Potomac.

Ms. Koenig is a Physical Therapy Clinical Coordinator in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at Suburban Hospital/Johns Hopkins Medicine. She will present background information on falls in the older population and will discuss lifestyle changes that may help prevent falls, addressing issues of balance, risk factors for falls and how exercise and physical therapy can help reduce the risk of falls.

Attendees may bring their own brown-bag lunches. Potomac Community Village (PCV) will provide beverages and dessert.

PCV is an all-volunteer non-profit network of neighbors and friends geared to enabling older Potomac residents to age in place – to thrive in place and age in community - by creating social connections and providing volunteer services such as computer assistance, occasional transportation, simple home repairs and other services by neighbor helping neighbor.
