BREAKING NEWS: A natural gas leak caused River Road in Potomac to shut down Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

POTOMAC, MD — A natural gas leak caused River Road in Potomac to be shut down Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
The area of River Road and Counselman Road is cordoned off, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said.
Construction workers struck a gas line, causing a natural gas leak, Piringer said.

Area businesses and schools will likely be affected, Piringer said.
