Potomac Credit Score: City Ranks Near Top of National Report

Rankings by WalletHub puts the credit score for Potomac in the top tier of the national rankings; three Montgomery cities made the top 40.

BETHESDA, MD — You wouldn’t sit around comparing your credit score with your neighbors, but it’s interesting to see how Bethesda ranks among other cities within the state.

The number crunchers at WalletHub have compared the average credit scores in 2,570 U.S. cities. The results put Bethesda high on the the list at No. 39 nationally. Three Montgomery County cities cracked the top 40 of the list.

Other Montgomery County cities included Gaithersburg at No. 1,119 with a credit score of 678.01; Silver Spring at No. 1,187 with a score of 675.43; Germantown at No. 1,324 with a score of 670.75; Takoma Park at No. 1,514 with a score of 664.60; Montgomery Village at No. 1, 560 with a score of 662.65.

At the top of the list, The Villages, Fla., with 779.51. And Camden, N.J., was at the bottom with 565.62.

The average credit scores for each city are from September 2015, based on TransUnion data. “City” refers to city proper and excludes surrounding metro areas.
