Tiger Woods To Play In 2018 National At TPC Potomac This Summer

Tiger Woods recently announced he will compete in the 2018 National in Montgomery County this summer.

POTOMAC, MD — Tiger Woods recently announced he will compete in the 2018 National at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm this summer. The annual D.C. region PGA Tour will return to the private golf club in Montgomery County this June for the second time in tournament history.

“I am really looking forward to being back in the D.C. area this summer playing in The National,” Woods said in a statement. “As a two-time champion of this event benefiting my foundation, The National has always been a special event for me.”

Woods last played in the tournament in 2015. He is a two-time champion, winning in 2009 and 2012.

In December, Woods returned to competitive golf at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. Woods has since competed in five events during the PGA Tour's 2017-2018 season.

The National will be held at TPC Potomac from June 25 to July 1. Last year, Kyle Stanley defeated Charles Howell III in a one-hole playoff.

The tournament invites 120 top players on the PGA Tour to compete for their share of a $7.1 million purse while raising funds and awareness for the Tiger Woods Foundation.

The tournament is hosted by Woods and pays tribute to U.S. armed forces and low-income students of the Tiger Woods Foundation. The foundation distributes complimentary tickets to members of the armed forces.

Past champions of The National include Woods, defending champion Kyle Stanley, K.J. Choi, Bill Haas, Billy Hurley III, Anthony Kim, Troy Merritt, Justin Rose and Nick Watney.

Tickets for the 2018 National are now on sale, starting at $15. All ticket options are available here. New in 2018, all competition round grounds tickets are valid any one day, providing an added level of flexibility for fans. Upgraded ticket options include the Independence Pavilion on 16 green, Trophy Club and cabanas on 17 tee and Capital Club, an all-inclusive option on 18 green.

Discounted tickets are available for purchase to college and high school students with a valid student ID. Youth tickets for kids 15 and under are complimentary when accompanied by a ticketed adult and must be redeemed at the box office.
