Family of Five Given Keys to Habitat for Humanity Home
Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland Welcomes New Family Home.

RIVERDALE, MD— On Saturday, November 19, 2016, Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland, Inc. (HFHMM) hosted around 50 members of the community as they dedicated their fourth home in Prince George’s County. Volunteers, community supporters, sponsors, and friends of the family, joined together to ceremoniously welcome the family into their new home. The celebration included a ribbon-cutting and allowed members of the community to tour the home and visit with the family, as well as Habitat volunteers and staff.
The new homeowners are a family of five – father, mother, and three children ages, 7, 3, and 2. Mr. and Mrs. Burka were both born in Ethiopia and have been residing with their children in an apartment in Hyattsville for over seven years. When asked how their lives will change, Mr. Burka responded, “We will be a very happy family, we are going to have a backyard so my kids can play in a very safe place, and they are going to have their own rooms. It will be fantastic”.
