Lott Carey Joins dfree® Financial Freedom Movement

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Aug. 17, 2016 -- Lott Carey Global Christian Missional Community has partnered with dfree® to help curtail a national crisis of personal financial debt by teaching individuals financial literacy and other tools for financial security. The partnership was announced today during Lott Carey’s 119th Annual Session: “Missions Matter for Justice,” which has drawn more than 2,500 members to the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott and concludes on Friday.

“We’ve joined dfree® because its goal of financial freedom fits well with our mission and because it provides faith-based, practical methods that are transforming lives,” said Dr. David Emmanuel Goatley, Lott Carey’s executive secretary-treasurer. “Financial freedom is a foundational block for empowering families and communities. This is long overdue.”

To date, hundreds of churches and faith-based organizations have partnered with dfree®. Dr. DeForest B. Soaries, Jr., creator of the dfree® movement and founder of the dfree® Global Foundation, Inc. said he hopes to attract 3,000 such members by 2018. Soaries, author of Say Yes to No Debt: 12 Steps to Financial Freedom, has issued a Billion Dollar Challenge as a national initiative and free resource to help individuals and families collectively pay down $1 billion in consumer debt.

“So many people are drowning in personal debt and, worse, they just don’t know how to get out. But there is a way out,” Soaries said. “dfree® takes people from debts, delinquencies and deficits to deposits, dividends and deeds. It’s a program that requires personal responsibility, commitment and support from others.”

Churches and others who have found success using the dfree® program will join together in November for the 5th Annual Financial Freedom Conference, “Say Yes to the Next Level,” being hosted this year at Soaries’ church, First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset, New Jersey.
