Teen Charged As Adult In Fatal Stabbing Of Riverdale Man

Prince George's County Police arrested and charged a 16-year-old in connection with a fatal stabbing of a Riverdale man.

RIVERDALE, MD — Prince Georges' County Police homicide detectives have arrested a suspect in connection with the Sunday morning fatal stabbing of a Riverdale man, according to a police release. Luswin Alonso, 16, of the 5100 block of Kenilworth Avenue is being charged as an adult in the death of Jose Vasquez Lopez 45, of Riverdale.

On Sunday, March 22, around 12:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of Carters Lane in Riverdale for the report of a stabbing. Arriving on the scene, officers located the victim, who was suffering from trauma to the upper body. The victim, who police identified as Lopez, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Following a preliminary investigation, officers learned that Lopez had walked up to Alonso and a witness, who was related to Lopez. As Lopez was talking to the witness, Alonso attacked him, according to police. The reason for the attack remains under investigation.
