How do I know if my child could benefit from occupational therapy?

Your child could benefit from occupational therapy if you have noticed difficulty with gross motor skills (running, climbing, playing on playground), fine motor skills (handwriting, manipulating objects), visual perceptual skills (puzzles, where's waldo), activities of daily living (dressing, sleeping, bathing), eating difficulties (limited selection, texture avoidance) or difficulty with self-regulation (processing sensory input such as touch or sound).

A few examples of why a child would get occupational therapy

1) The child has difficulty writing which affects their school work
2) The child is sensitive to textures which causes them to be a picky eater
3) The child has trouble coordinating their body to learn to swim

4) The child has difficulty self-regulating which causes them to have trouble falling asleep at night
