Vote for the Best Gingerbread House at the 15th Annual Show

The public is welcome to view the unique houses during the next three weekends.

This is not Hansel and Gretel, so no noshing on the houses!

The 15th Annual Gingerbread House Contest & Show will feature just how creative adults and children can get at Darnall’s Chance House Museum, 14800 Governor Oden Bowie Drive in Upper Marlboro. The show opens noon to 5 p.m. Friday and will continue the same hours Saturday and Sunday as well as Dec. 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, and 14.

The contestants are entered in one of the following categories:

  • Adult Division: One person age 17 or older
  • Child Division: One person age eight to 16
  • Family Division: Group of three to seven people with at least one adult and one child

In the adult category the first place winner will receive $100, the second $75, and the third $50. For the child and family categories the first place winner will get $75, the second $50, and the third $25. All winners will receive ribbons as well.

Attendees will vote for the Viewers’ Choice Award that will honor the entries with $200 each.

Admission to view the show is $1 per person and ages four and under are free.
