100 Heat Index For Montgomery County; Advisory Issued

Montgomery County issued a Hyperthermia Alert for Tuesday with the heat index expected to hit 100.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Remember last week when Montgomery County had some breaks in the rain, the humidity dropped and it was a decent weekend for boating, fishing, hanging out at the beach? It's over, at least for a few days, prompting Montgomery County to issue a Hyperthermia Alert for Tuesday.

With a heat index expected to hit 100, the alert will be in effect until 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

A hazardous weather outlook and an air quality have been issued for the next three days as the feels-like temperature is supposed to continue to zoom past 100 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

For folks with asthma or heart conditions, the heat and humidity make being outdoors difficult. Authorities have issued a Code Orange Air Quality Alert Tuesday for the Washington, D.C., metro area. A Code Orange Air Quality Alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups.

Sensitive groups include children, people suffering from asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases and the elderly. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.
