103 New COVID-19 Cases Added, Death Toll Amended In Montgomery Co

Since its outbreak emerged in March, Montgomery County has reported 62,626​ COVID-19 infections and 1,352​ deaths.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County recorded 103 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, up from 87 the day before, according to data released by Maryland's health department.

The latest addition pushes the county's cumulative total to 62,626 infections.

On Tuesday, health officials adjusted the local death toll from 1,353 to 1,352. Sometimes preliminary fatality data is amended based on additional reporting.

That new total does not include the 45 others whose deaths were linked to the virus but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

Montgomery County — which is home to roughly 1 million people — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 72,416, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 377,628 coronavirus cases, 7,580 confirmed deaths, and 182 "probable deaths." Of the 978 patients being hospitalized for the disease statewide, 258 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As of Tuesday, Maryland has administered 1,112,651 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those, 746,919 were first doses and 365,732 were second doses.

In Montgomery County, 129,734 residents (12.3 percent) have received their first dose. A total of 53,142 residents (5 percent) have already gotten their second and final shot.
