121 New COVID-19 Cases, 9 More Deaths Reported In Montgomery Co.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County reported 129 new cases of coronavirus Thursday, as well as nine more deaths caused by the disease.

The latest additions, published by the Maryland Department of Health, push the countywide totals to 62,896 infections and 1,363 fatalities since the start of the pandemic.

Another 45 residents are believed to have died from COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, without ever getting tested. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

Montgomery County continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 72,788, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 379,466 coronavirus cases, 7,623 confirmed deaths, and 182 "probable deaths." Of the 952 patients being hospitalized for the disease statewide, 243 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As of Thursday, Maryland has administered 1,187,807 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those, 784,265 were first doses and 403,542 were second doses.

In Montgomery County, 137,353 residents (13.1 percent) have received their first dose. A total of 61,226 residents (5.8 percent) have already gotten their second and final shot.
