ROCKVILLE, MD — Rockville resident Sarah Munero has had a passion for cosmetics since she was a middle-schooler watching how-to videos on YouTube. Now she's a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in business, and she's becoming an entrepreneur.

Munero and her parents are opening an Amazing Lash Studio, part of the chain that specializes in eyelash extensions.

Munero's father, Frank, recently got back in touch with an old work associate and found out he was the regional director of Amazing Lash and owned a studio. They started talking, and the Munero family decided to open their own shop.

“This was just a perfect opportunity that fell into our laps," Sarah Munero told Patch.

The process has been longer than expected because of the pandemic, but the Amazing Lash Studio is expected to open in July in the Rock Creek Village Shopping Center in Rockville. It'll be open every day — Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Some services include eyelash extensions (with four options to choose from that vary in length and fullness) and waxing. Munero said the point is to wake up feeling like you don't need to put on any makeup.

“It's such a small thing but it makes a huge difference on someone's face," she said.

She's already hired a lash technician and plans to hire stylists and lash consultants before opening day. Sarah will work as a manager in the store, while Frank takes a backseat as most of the business work to get it off the ground slows down.

Mary, her mother, has worked closely with Sarah on choosing a location, applying for permits and ordering supplies. Mary ultimately picked the neighborhood in part because it's the one she grew up in.

Eventually, the family plans to open more locations. For now, they're excited to see what Rockville has to offer.

“We’re just looking forward to seeing as many people as we can," Frank said.
