Body Of Missing Montgomery County Man Found In Ocean City Canal

The body of a 23-year-old man missing from Montgomery County was found in a bayside canal in Ocean City, police said.

OCEAN CITY, MD — The body of a 23-year-old man missing from Montgomery County was found in a bayside canal in Ocean City, police said.

Cesar Alcides Martinez Saravia's body was found in the canal just south of 67th Street and was recovered by the Ocean City Fire Department Dive Team, a statement from the Ocean City Police Department said.

Martinez Saravia was reported missing to police by his friends on Sunday morning. He was last seen at about 7 p.m. Saturday in the area of 62nd Street in Ocean City.

"Officers immediately initiated a search with assistance from the Maryland Natural Resources Police," the police statement said. "Through investigation and video surveillance, detectives were led to the location of his body Monday afternoon."

Martinez Saravia’s body has been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Maryland, where the cause and manner of death will be determined by an autopsy.

There were no obvious signs of injury and no foul play is suspected at this time, police said.

Police did not specify what area in Montgomery County Martinez Saravia is from.

The investigation is ongoing.
