Companies Offer Free, Discounted Rides To Voters On Election Day
Companies like Uber, Lyft, and Capital Bikeshare are offering free or discounted codes to voters heading to the polls on Nov. 6.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Voting on Election Day can be stressful — getting to the polls shouldn't be. That's why several ride-sharing companies, like Uber and Lyft, are offering free or discounted rides to voters heading out to cast their ballot. Looking to take a bike or a scooter to the polls? Companies like Capital Bikeshare and Skip have got you covered. Keep reading to learn more.
Uber
Uber has teamed up with #VoteTogether and Democracy Works to "help ensure that transportation isn’t a barrier in getting to the polls," according to a press release. #VoteTogether has already sent out promo codes to more than 15,000 potential voters.
Additionally, Uber announced it is taking $10 off a single ride to the polls. Enter promo code VOTE2018 in the app.

Lyft
Lyft has partnered with a number of organizations in an effort to get voters to the polls. According to a press release, the companies are offering riders 50% off promo codes. Lyft says these promo codes are valid for up to $5 off any ride to a polling place. You can get the codes here.
Through partnerships with nonprofit organizations, Lyft is also providing free rides to voters living in underserved communities.

Lime
Lime, a popular e-scooter company, is offering free rides to the polls to help voters "make their voices heard and overcome a barrier that may have kept them from participating in the democratic process," according to a press release.
Enter code LIME2VOTE18 to unlock any of the company's shared bikes, e-bikes, or e-scooters for a free 30-minute ride.
Skip
Skip is another popular e-scooter company that is getting involved on Election Day. Just post a picture to Instagram or Twitter with your "I Voted" and get a $5 credit via Direct Message. For more information about the credit, click here.
Capital Bikeshare
Voters who plan on pedaling to the polls can get a free day pass. Just enter code BIKETOVOTE in the app.
Zipcar
Active Zipcar Members in good standing can qualify for a $20 free driving credit. To get the credit, voters must opt in to receive emails and complete a reservation between 6 and 10 p.m.
On Friday, Nov. 9, Zipcar will email qualifying members a coupon code — which will be valid for one month after redemption. For more information, click here.
