County's Alcohol Beverage Services Gets First Female Director
Kathie Durbin has been confirmed as the first female director of Montgomery County's Department of Alcohol Beverage Services.
ROCKVILLE, MD — The Montgomery County Council on Tuesday confirmed Kathie Durbin as the first female director of the county's Department of Alcohol Beverage Services.
The department is the alcohol wholesaler of beer, wine, and spirits for the county and manages 26 stores throughout the region.
"I am delighted to welcome Kathie as the new ABS director," said County Executive Marc Elrich. "Kathie's passion for ABS' mission, community partnerships, and economic growth will help our County advance and rebuild when we need it most."

Durbin joined the department in 2002 as a community outreach manager and became division chief of licensure, regulation, and education in 2007.
She is currently the president of the Maryland Alcohol Licensing Association and a member of the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association Regulatory Committee.

For the past four months, Durbin has served as acting director of ABS. She succeeds Bob Dorfman, who left his position in late 2020.
