COVID-19 Cases Tick Up In Montgomery Co; No New Deaths Reported
Montgomery County added 161 new coronavirus cases overnight, up from 139 on Wednesday, official data showed.
ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County registered 161 new coronavirus infections overnight, up from 139 on Wednesday, data released by the Maryland Department of Health showed.
For Maryland's most populous jurisdiction, Thursday's addition pushes the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 65,986.
No new COVID-19-related deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. The local death toll remains at 1,417.

The latest fatality count does not include the 46 others whose deaths were linked to the virus but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."
Montgomery County — which is home to roughly 1 million people — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 76,950, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 403,982 cases, 8,032 confirmed deaths, and 185 "probable deaths." Of the 919 people currently being hospitalized statewide, 223 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
As of Thursday, Maryland has administered 2,358,677 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those, 1,526,126 were first doses and 771,942 were second doses.
In Montgomery County, 292,340 residents (27.8 percent) have received their first dose. A total of 150,188 residents (14.3 percent) have already gotten their second and final shot.
