Flash Flood Watch Issued In Montgomery County
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Montgomery County and surrounding areas.
ROCKVILLE, MD — A flash flood watch is in effect for Montgomery County and surrounding areas Wednesday afternoon. The National Weather Service issues a flash flood watch when rainy conditions has the potential to trigger flash flooding.
Montgomery, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford, Howard, and Prince George's counties and Baltimore City are under the flash flood watch from noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31. Northern Virginia and D.C. are also included.
Forecasters are calling for showers and thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening with heavy rain and potentially damaging wind. Officials say the heaviest risk is along the Interstate 95 corridor.

Heavy rain falling in one area could lead to up to 3 inches of rain, according to the weather service.
During a flash flood watch, a rapid rise in water level can be life-threatening. Those who see flooded roads should turn around; don't drown.

These areas may be impacted, according to weather officials: Bethesda, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, Reisterstown, Cockeysville, Baltimore, Bowie, Suitland-Silver Hill, Clinton, College Park, Greenbelt, Laurel, Camp Springs, Glen Burnie, Annapolis, Severn, South Gate, Severna Park, Arnold, Odenton, Columbia, Ellicott City, Jarrettsville, and Aberdeen.
