ROCKVILLE, MD — Plaza Oaxaca, a new restaurant that will serve authentic Mexican fare and hand-crafted cocktails, is coming to Rockville Town Square next year.

The 4,500-square-foot restaurant is slated to open at 141 Gibbs St. in February, according to Federal Realty Investment Trust, the company that manages Rockville Town Square. It will join neighborhood favorites such as La Canela, Spice Xing, and Peter Chang.

Plaza Oaxaca will be the first restaurant in Rockville for co-owners Cecilia Pastor and Maria Barragan, who hail from Oaxaca, Mexico. The pair says they plan to host live music and dance nights once health conditions allow.

"The space is beautiful, and we love this neighborhood and the active community," Barragan said. "We look forward to showcasing our twist on Oaxaca, Mexico, favorites such as molé and mexcál, and, of course, margaritas."

The restaurant's hours will be Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
