Rockville Cook Finalist In America's Better Sandwich Contest

Rockville resident Ronna Farley is one of the finalists in the America's Better Sandwich Contest.

From Coyne PR: Fruity, savory and fresh: these delicious flavors were brought to the cutting board for the fourth annual America’s Better Sandwich® Contest, which tallied thousands of entries from contestants across the country. Arnold®, Brownberry® and Oroweat® Bread unveiled the five finalists—the delicious and nutritious sandwich recipes that will move on to the next round. Alongside Chef Tom Colicchio, it’s now time for America to step in to help judge each recipe and determine who will take home the grand prize dough of $25,000.

From October 5 until October 26, sandwich lovers can hone their judging skills and vote for the recipe they think deserves the title and the dough here. For every vote, Arnold®, Brownberry® and Oroweat® Breads will also donate a loaf of bread, up to 10,000 loaves, to Feeding America®, the contest’s official charitable partner, in addition to the loaves that will be donated for each entry received to help feed families across the country.

The Top 5 finalists for the “America’s Better Sandwich®” Contest are:

In addition to consumer votes, Arnold®, Brownberry® and Oroweat® Bread have enlisted the help of seasoned food judge and sandwich expert, Chef Tom Colicchio, to help determine the next top sandwich. Each finalist’s recipe will be evaluated by its nutritional analysis, creativity/innovation and taste.

“There were so many creative recipes submitted to this year’s America’s Better Sandwich® Contest featuring delicious ingredients on a variety of Arnold®, Brownberry® and Oroweat® breads, and the five finalists represent the very best of the submissions,” said Colicchio. “As the finalists head to the next round, we invite everyone to help us judge the recipes and vote for their favorite better sandwich. It’s definitely not going to be easy to choose just one!”

Once the judging and voting is complete, the sandwich recipe with the highest combined overall score will be deemed the Grand Prize winner and receive $25,000, and one runner-up will be awarded $5,000. The Grand Prize and Runner-Up winners will be announced on “National Sandwich Day,” November 3.

“This year’s America’s Better Sandwich® Contest pulled in so many unique and original recipes featuring a variety of our products, from Whole Grain and Country Bread to Sandwich Thins® Rolls and more,” said Marlene Sidhu, Director of Arnold®, Brownberry® and Oroweat® Breads. “The Top 5 finalists were chosen for their ability to craft a delicious and nutritious sandwich, and we can’t wait to see which recipe rises to the top!”
