Rockville Woman's Kidnapping, Assault Ends In Arrest: Police

Montgomery County police have charged a man with kidnapping and assault. He is accused of attacking a woman in a parking garage.

ROCKVILLE, MD — A man has been charged in connection with a Rockville kidnapping and assault that happened on Monday around 9 p.m., Montgomery County Police said Wednesday.

Daniel J. Belcik, 26, is accused of approaching and grabbing an 18-year-old woman who was putting things in her car, before pulling her out of the parking garage. Police say the victim screamed and fought with the accused assailant, until witnesses heard and confronted them. Belcik then let her go and ran off, according to police.

Police say they saw a man matching the suspect's description walking on Rock Creek Mill Road who ran when they approached. Police arrested Belcik, of an unconfirmed address, in the 5500 of Fishers Lane in Rockville about 45 minutes later.

Belcik made comments during a police interview "acknowledging his involvement in this incident," police said.

He is being held without bond, according to police.
