Scott Emmons, Rockville Deputy Fire Chief, Dies At Age 48

ROCKVILLE, MD — Rockville Volunteer Fire Deputy Chief Scott Emmons has died at the age of 48.

In a post published on its website, the city's fire department said Emmons died from complications he suffered "after a medical event" on Feb. 6. A procession was held Friday as his body was brought to a Rockville funeral home.

Originally from Wallingford, Connecticut, Emmons served the department for more than 30 years. He rose through the ranks and became fire chief in January 2011.

After stepping down in August of 2017, Emmons became deputy fire chief.

He also was a detective with the Metropolitan Police Department, where he was assigned to the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force.

"Chief Emmons was well known in the fire service, and well respected by all that had the privilege to know and work alongside him," Rockville fire officials said in a statement. "He was a friend to all of us and a mentor to many, we love you Scott and will miss you more than words can express."
