Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Montgomery County
A severe thunderstorm warning and a hazardous weather outlook statement has been issued for parts of Montgomery County on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

ROCKVILLE, MD — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning and a hazardous weather outlook statement for parts of Montgomery County on Tuesday, Aug. 6. The warning will remain in effect until 8:15 p.m.
At 7:25 p.m., forecasters spotted a severe thunderstorm over Potomac or near the American Legion Bridge, moving east at 5 mph. The National Weather Service are predicting 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
"Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles," forecasters said.

Affected areas include Bethesda, Potomac, North Potomac, Cabin John, Reston, Wolf Trap, Great Falls, Congressional Manor, and Bradley Farms.
Residents should exercise caution at this time.

"For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building," the National Weather Service said in a statement.
