Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Montgomery County

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Montgomery County. Forecasters are reporting 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

ROCKVILLE, MD — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Montgomery County. It is in effect until 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Areas affected include Rockville, Germantown, Gaithersburg, Olney, Damascus, Aspen Hill, Potomac, North Bethesda, Montgomery Village, North Potomac, and Boyds.

Forecasters are reporting 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

"Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles," the National Weather Service said. "Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles."
