Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued In Montgomery County Monday

BREAKING NEWS: Eastern Montgomery County residents may see 60 mph wind gusts Monday night, The National Weather Service said.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect in eastern Montgomery County as several thunderstorms approach the area Monday evening.

Forecasters said a severe thunderstorm was located near Elkridge, moving northeast at 10 mph, at about 5:34 p.m. The warning is in effect until 6:15 p.m. for Howard, Anne Arundel, Baltimore and Montgomery counties.

Expect heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning with these as they move through.

Damaging winds can cause some trees and large branches to fall and roadways may become blocked by downed trees, the warning says.

Localized power outages are possible.

Residents are advised to get indoors. Don't drive underneath trees or in wooded areas until the threat has passed.
