Silver Spring Woman Killed In Motorcycle Accident: Police

The deadly collision occurred Monday in Rockville; another Silver Spring woman was badly injured in a motor scooter accident, say police.

ROCKVILLE, MD — The Montgomery County police are investigating a deadly motorcycle accident in Rockville on Monday evening, as well as a motor scooter accident just before midnight in which a rider was seriously injured. Officers from the county and Rockville, as well as fire and rescue personnel, responded at 6:42 p.m. Monday to the scene of the motorcycle accident at East Gude Drive and Taft Street, according to a county police statement.

The motorcyclist, identified as Priscilla Anne Alves, 26, of Flack Street in Silver Spring, was riding eastbound on East Gude Drive on a 2015 Honda CBR 300R. The driver of a 1999 Lincoln Navigator was traveling west on East Gude Drive and attempted to make a U-turn into the road's eastbound lanes, colliding with the motorcycle, the police said.

Alves was taken to a local hospital, where she died of her injuries, the police said. The SUV's driver, Quentin Bernard Wellmaker, 27, of Pear Tree Court in Silver Spring, was not injured.

In the motor scooter collision, county police officers and fire and rescue personnel responded at 11:42 p.m. to the scene at the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Aspen Hill Road.

The police said a TaoTao Zummer 50cc motor scooter and a Toyota automobile were both moving east on Veirs Mill Road when the car struck the motor scooter from behind.

The operator of the motor scooter, identified as Fredis Del Cid, 28, of Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville, and his passenger, Maria Delmis Lemus-Nolasco, 24, of Epping Road in Silver Spring, were taken to a local hospital.

The police said Tuesday that Lemus-Nolasco was suffering from life-threatening injuries, while Del Cid was in stable condition.

The driver of the Toyota, identified as Roberto Carlos Castellon, 21, of Amherst Avenue in Silver Spring, and two passengers in the vehicle were not injured in the collision, the police said.
