Snow Coming To Rockville Tuesday: Outlook, SHA Tips For Motorists

It's time to, once again, break out the snow boots. Here's how much snow the National Weather Service is projecting for the region.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Ready or not, more snow is expected to hit Rockville on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service predicts cold rain will turn into snow late Tuesday afternoon. While snow accumulations of one to three inches are expected, forecasters say it could make for hazardous driving conditions in much of the state and the Baltimore-Washington region.

"If you plan on commuting Tuesday evening, be aware of the potential for travel disruptions," said the weather service in a special weather statement for the Baltimore-Washington area. "Plan ahead by allowing for extra travel time, and consider using public transportation and telework options."

On Tuesday night, temperatures are expected to drop below freezing, so any moisture left on the roads may turn to ice, according to the National Weather Service.

To help keep roadways safe, the Maryland State Highway Administration said that crews will be aggressively patrolling for icy spots.
